When new members join our community, we invite them to:
“Affirm that you are 18 years of age or older and capable of giving informed, voluntary consent in accordance with Healing Manifested’s Doctrine of Spiritual Maturity.”
This affirmation may sound straightforward, but it carries deep significance. Turning eighteen is not only a legal milestone—it is a sacred threshold, marking the beginning of adulthood in both civic and spiritual life.
A Sacred Threshold
At eighteen, society entrusts us with serious responsibilities: the right to vote, the ability to serve on juries, and even eligibility for military duty. These are not small matters—they recognize that an individual has reached the stage of self-governance. We embrace this same age as a spiritual marker, when freedom and responsibility become woven together.
Responsibility and Healing
With adulthood comes the call to step into responsibility—not only for choices and actions, but for the deeper work of healing. At this stage, we are called to tend to old wounds, cultivate emotional balance, and grow in wisdom so we can serve others with integrity.
We believe that you can only give to the world what you have nurtured within yourself. A compassionate heart and an open mind are not only personal strengths—they are spiritual responsibilities.
Freedom to Choose
Spiritual maturity also means freedom. At eighteen, each person has the right to determine their spiritual path, discern their relationship with the Divine, and choose the practices that support growth and healing.
This freedom is sacred. It is not about acting without thought, but about making choices with clarity and care, knowing they affect not only ourselves but the wider community and the Earth.
Guided by Love
At the center of this affirmation is love: love for oneself, love for others, and love for creation. Love is both the gift and the responsibility of spiritual maturity. It becomes the principle that guides our decisions, deepens our relationships, and shapes our service in the world.
Closing Reflection
Affirming the Age of Spiritual Maturity means stepping into physical and spiritual adulthood with awareness. It is saying: I am capable of giving informed, voluntary consent, and I choose to walk this path freely, responsibly, and with love.
This affirmation honors autonomy and accountability together. It marks the moment when you stand not only as an individual with rights, but as a spiritual adult entrusted to live with integrity, to serve with compassion, and to shape your journey with intention.
Note: While minors are welcome to join us as guests of their parents or guardians for approved gatherings, church membership, and covenants are reserved for consenting adults. We honor the sacred right of each individual to choose their own spiritual path freely, without pressure or influence. For this reason, formal commitments within our church begin at adulthood, when a person can fully affirm their faith and responsibilities with informed consent.
